Jammu, November 08: Most of the married people know how it is to live with a nagging wife unless one becomes a henpecked husband similarly as it is to live with an abusive husband unless the women learns to keep silence.
But the day any of the two thinks of a role reversal all hell breaks loose and the house is thrown into a chaos until one gains the upper hand as the other one always remains unsatisfied whatever the partner does to please him or her.
Well! This is not a sermon on the husband wife relationship but similar relationship shared by New Delhi and the leaders of Kashmir who have been acting as perfect nagging wife while New Delhi as a perfect henpecked husband going to any extent to please the dominating wife but as usual the wife finds the fault with every action of the fearful husband.
Had it not been so and had New Delhi acted as a perfect husband Kashmir problem would have been solved decades ago but then have you ever seen a henpecked husband turning into an abusive husband?
New Delhi has been pumping truckloads of money in the shape of relief and rehabilitation packages for Kashmir as every package that comes to the state is labeled as Kashmir package and announced in Kashmir itself with the leaders ensuring that lions share also remains with the Kashmir and offer peanuts to Jammu and Ladakh.
Now with the drastic changes in the political scenario of India and also of Jammu and Kashmir there was a hope that the relationship would change into an equal partnership if not the complete role reversal.
But the way things are shaping up in the state as well as New Delhi it seems the new man at the helm has yet to learn the tantrums of nagging wife while the new man at the helm here is a master of acting not as a nagging wife but a shrewd wife who knows how to keep her husband under the toes.
In the whole process Jammu and Ladakh is yet to come across that ray of hope across the tunnel that only Gandhi ji could see while we have been searching for it for the past six decades.
Modi being the master politician is still the only ray of hope for the people of Jammu and Ladakh even though his frequent flier status for J&K is limited to Kashmir only with a sprinkling of the showers for Jammuites in the shape of initiating the stalled projects which by now should have been completed long back.
But coming back to the nagging wife, the situation has not changed despite the husband coming with a new and increased package of Rs 80, 000 crore almost the same as demanded by the Kashmiri leaders to call Modi’s bluff but still the reactions are the same.
The nagging wife called Kashmir is still not happy and now having got what she demanded says packages won’t solve the problem and in fact they were looking for the political solution.
One wonders what will satisfy this nagging wife to give New Delhi some breathing space and think of Jammuites and Ladakhis too in equal terms.
While Omar Abdullah feels Modi has buried Vajpayees vision despite the fact that it was his government that demanded astronomical amount of one lakh crore while Kashmir Chamber of Commerce called it jugglery of words conveniently forgetting that it would be Kashmir business that would get the lion’s share from the package.
Similarly Kashmir Economic alliance also called it political stunt terming Modi as master politician to hoodwink ‘Kashmiris’
The killer acting as dove Yasin Mailk terms civil curfew as historic and those attending Modi’s rally in thousands as stooges while the ‘saint’ Ali Shah Geelani calls the government security bando-bast as ‘hooliganism and terrorism’.
With such nagging reactions from Kashmir leaders pretending still unhappy, one is only reminded of the tales of nagging wife and henpecked husband but the question is whether Modi too acts as henpecked husband or brings the nagging wife to its knees…only time will tell, while Jammuites and Ladkahis wonder who will prove their savior ultimately.
