Jammu, January 07: The state of Jammu and Kashmir has lost a great visionary, statesman and architect of new political order with a new roadmap in his mind to turn the tide in troubled Jammu and Kashmir in association with Narendra Modi.
The sudden demise of incumbent chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir has come as a big blow to the people of the state who were very optimistic that Mufti was on a mission to write a new chapter in the history of the state by giving peace a fair chance and taking this state to new heights of development.
As they say many people come and leave their imprint but history decides later who has done what and who will be treated as great statesman based on the contributions that person has made to the society.
In this regard Mufti will surely be remembered as one of the greatest visionaries of the modern Jammu and Kashmir for his pro-peace initiatives and great vision for the development of the state.
Mufti was very enthusiastic this time to turn the tide and was doing things in great speed which also resulted in his untimely demise leaving the state in a state of shock.
Such was Mufti’s enthusiasm that he toured Srinagar city for six continuous hours refusing to listen to the party leaders and ministers to take rest as he wanted to work round the clock to change the future of this state but unfortunately the destiny had something else in mind and it had a very bad effect on his health.
Having said that it is also imperative to recall here that Mufti will also be remembered as a statesman who died working for the state literally like a soldier and also went away like a soldier.
Going back to his earlier stint as chief minister, people of the state still remember his reign as one of the finest rules post militancy and were hopeful that this time round when he was assured full term with solid backing from Modi J&K was in for a great future.
As chief minister from 2002 to 2005, he proved to be extraordinarily gifted at both administration and political management. He built new schools, colleges and universities across the state, new parks, wide roads and other public facilities. He brought corruption under check, and kept track of development at the grassroots, tapping his own people for real-time feedback on actual progress.
The era has however come to an end and not it is upto his illustrious daughter to carry forward the legacy of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed as the baton has been passed on to her by her father to take this state to new heights of development.
People also believe that Mehbooba would do full justice to the opportunity that has been given to her by the destiny to serve the people of the state with equal treatment and fair play like her father as it was Mehbooba who was always by the side of her father during his earlier and current regime and knows fully well what Mufti wanted and how he implemented his ideas.
Let us hope that the dream of a new Jammu and Kashmir of Mufti Sayeed is realized which would be a great tribute to the statesman who left huge imprint on the mindset of the citizens of the state.
