Next Assembly Session In Jammu To Be Hotter?
Jammu, October 14: The recent session of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was chaotic as well as fruitful as the House witnessed some acrimonious scenes due to over enthusiasm of Er Rasheed through his theatrics and later the reply by BJP MLAs in same manner while the business was also transacted partially due to majority of the government in the House and partially taking benefit of the din in the House.
However the next session that would now be held in winter capital of Jammu is likely to be hotter than this one with the Beef ban likely to take another twist if the three member bench constituted on the directions of the Supreme Court comes out with any sort of order by then.
Even without the order the beef ban is going to hit the session with those who wanted a debate making another attempt and those who oppose trying to scuttle the issue once again and people outside waiting with bated breath to see some more dramatics added with some action consisting of fists, blows and who knows throwing mikes etc on each other.
At the same time Jammu based legislators will be in a winning position on their own turf and try to score a point or two after they were welcomed here like heroes.
However the time demands that instead of wasting the time on theatrics and chaos legislators must focus on the business that is transacted in the House with Jammu based legislators having an added responsibility to wake-up and seek their rights now as the people of this region are losing their patience very fast due to lack of development that directly concerns the common citizens.
The recent initiative of blacktopping of roads was no way going to impress Jammuites now as it has been too late and everybody connects it with the arrival of the modern day monarchs who want good roads till they enjoy their winters here.
The BJP as a party should have taken this step much before and ensured that Jammuites are treated with respect by doing works that connect them directly instead of making us believe that tenders were getting delayed and all other political stories.
Jammuites are also questioning whether the roads were being blacktopped after finding the suitable tenders or it was done to appease the ruling class.
They also need to explain the nitty-gritty of the tenders and also what happened to huge amount spent on NBCC work which was abandoned without any reason.
It is also time the common people of Jammu wakeup from deep slumber and start questioning their legislators what they have done for Jammu during past more than six months and force them to extract their pound of flesh from the government which has been denying Jammuites their due for the past more than six decades.
The political observers here feel that legislators form Jammu region have a lot of explaining to do before their electorate and that would surely reflect in the House whenever it meets for the next session adding the next session is going to be much hotter than the earlier one.
