Jammu, February 22: With new revelations on the Jat quota stir coming to fore the fears that politicians were using the stir to reap their respective political dividends have only proven true and with it the fact that political class can go to any extent to malign the opponents to grab political power.
The common man in this whole process seems just a cannon fodder for politicians who whip up the emotions to create large scale disturbances in the nation even if that means deaths of a few hundred ordinary citizens or loot and destruction of a few hundred crores worth property.
While the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already hinted that there were certain forces who were hatching conspiracies to destabilize his government the audio clip of the aide of the former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda asking somebody to flare up the trouble in Haryana is a grim reminder that all was not well in the country.
The clip allegedly spills the beans of how Hooda was trying to cash in on the ongoing stir by playing savior on one front and flaring up the emotions on the other but behind the curtains.
Even as the aide has accepted that it was his voice he has denied having asked to whip up the emotions saying the clip was doctored.
Politicians are very wicked at times and know how to use a situation according to their own requirements which is also evident from the fact that after allegations of JNU video being doctored poured in, Hooda aide also blamed it on the editing table for twisting the facts of his conversation with one of the Khaap leaders.
“The BJP government in Haryana has said that it would get the audio conversation clip purportedly featuring Prof Virender, a former political adviser to the then chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, examined in which Virender talking to a Sirsa man being addressed as ‘Kaptan sahib’ is allegedly asking him to flare up the ongoing Jat agitation.
The 90-second clip between Virender and a Khap leader has gone viral on the Internet. Virender accepted that the voice in the clip is his but alleged the conversation has been “doctored”.
Leader of opposition in Haryana assembly, Abhay Singh Chautala said the clip makes it clear how “attempt” is being made to “instigate” the protesters “sitting peacefully”. While senior INLD leader Chautala sought an inquiry and punishment to those found guilty of instigating the protesters, he also said, “One thing becomes clear that the government is illegally tapping everyone’s phones.”
The problem with the Indian system is that everybody wants to grind his own axe caring a hoot for the so called national interest or public interest but when it comes to befooling the people the same set of politicians go from door to door trying to convince how much they care for them while we as voters also get fooled and vote blindly again according to our sections and castes thus letting this vicious cycle continue forever which is a dangerous trend.
This attitude of ours emboldens the politicians to use us as cannon fodder to reap their own political dividends while we blame the government for not curbing the situation again helping those who initiate the chaos to destabilize the government and create public unrest.
The best way is to refuse to be used as cannon fodder for the political industry and instead of hitting the streets and burning down our own property look for the practical solutions if at all we want to end all this senseless chaos on our streets.
At the same time the perpetuators of such crimes need to be dealt with an iron hand irrespective of their clout and political affiliations and that can happen only if we show them door during elections and not get carried away by their emotional speeches.
