Pakistan desperate to keep Kashmir pot boiling

Jammu, May 01: Pakistan is a country which has not been able to establish itself as a credible nation despite having got its Independence six decades back with its history being more of intrigue, military coups and it is never dying obsession in creating trouble in Kashmir.

Not feeling content with losing every war it fought with India and the subsequent proxy wars since 1947 Pakistan continues to poke its nose into every domestic affair of India particularly in Jammu and Kashmir where it has been sponsoring terrorists and separatists for the past more than 25 years to cleanse the Jammu and Kashmir of any Indian trace and effect complete demographic change.

Even though it has not been able to do it completely but still Kashmir has been cleared of Kashmiri Pandits through threats, killings, rape and loot of their properties beginning 1990.

But now when all its dirty tricks are seemingly going down the drain with India deciding to rehabilitate the displaced Kashmiri Pandits back in Valley, Pakistan is unnerved and so are its agents in Kashmir who have started a campaign against settlement of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley.

Not satisfied with the efforts of the separatists opposition to the return of Pandits Pakistan has taken the responsibility in its own hands and showing its immaturity and illogical concern about Kashmir has hit the hornets’ nest by terming the return of Kashmiri Pandits to Valley as demographic change being engineered by India in Kashmir against the UN resolutions.

One wonders how such a statement is being justified by Pakistan calling the original aborigines as outsiders while its sponsored terrorists, right from 1947 have settled in Kashmir and effected real demographic changes leading to forced exile of Kashmiri Pandits.

How can a foreign country tell India not to settle the displaced people back to their own homes and having the cheek to call it against the UN resolutions?

Pakistan needs to learn the history lessons and also the UN resolution which states that India and Pakistan have to clear the territory under their administration from any outsider and let the real residents decide their future.

Even though this is also null and void now but still how Pakistan can call Kashmiri Pandits as outsiders in Kashmir is as ironical as Pakistan itself.

The real story however is that Pakistan is losing its proxy war in Kashmir and Indian plan to resettle Kashmiri Pandits back would be a death blow to its dying armed onslaught in Kashmir, hence to keep the Kashmir pot boiling it has started issuing ridiculous statements that hold no water.

The fresh controversy started when the Pakistani foreign office briefed the press taking exception to India’s proposal to resettle Kashmiri Pandits in Valley.

It said that “any effort to establish dedicated townships to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir would be in violation of UN resolutions.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam said at a news briefing that India cannot change the population mix by settling outsiders in the Kashmir valley.
“Any effort to establish dedicated townships or special zones to change the demographic makeup of the territory will be in violation of UN resolutions,” she said”.

Even though India has rebuffed Pakistan asking it to mind its own business one also needs to understand that days ahead in Kashmir are not going to be smooth and perhaps the ground is being prepared for fresh street fights in Kashmir valley to keep India engaged and Pandits at bay.

Observers also feel that it would serve a death blow to the tourism sector for which Mufti has been trying hard to increase foot fall this year.

The government needs to be cautious and vigilant lest the coming season also witnesses another summer agitation in Kashmir valley.
