SSP Mohan Lal Assures Safe And Secure Roads!
Jammu, October 08: Jammu city has been witnessing rampant traffic violations of varied kinds involving unruly Matador drivers, young bikers, common citizens and even the men in uniform with almost every section of the society violating the rules with impunity without any fear factor.
The newly installed traffic signals at various crossings seem juts for the sake of having the signal system as hardly any crossing witnesses full implementation of the signals even as the traffic police at many places has been caught napping while the violators have a field day.
The chaos on roads is posing a huge threat to the common pedestrians as well as the bikers and drivers for any accident that takes place affects us all in one way or the other but nobody seems bothered to take note and act.
The common problem with the people is that everything is blamed on the government or the administration and in this case traffic police while nobody cares to follow the rules or tame their kids to behave on roads while zipping through city in top gear with speeds ranging from anything between 60 to 80kms/ph on these chaotic city roads.
While those who observe the rules blame traffic police for not implementing the rules in letter and spirit saying they stop on red signals but others zip them past with traffic police just looking on.
On the other hand some junior officers on roads blame it on the lack of manpower due to which traffic norms are not being implemented fully.
However if the SSP traffic is to be believed then these unruly scenes would be a thing of past soon as he has assured to tame the unruly drivers and bring normalcy on the roads.
Talking to The Earth News SSP Traffic Mohan Lal said that while traffic police was using various methods to educate the people about observing traffic rules the citizens particularly parents also need to realize their duty towards the society by behaving properly on roads and taming their own kids who are the cause of huge nuisance on roads due to high speed biking which endangers the public life.
SSP said that he will ensure that places like Panjtirthi, Kachi Chawni, parade etc where most of the bikers are seen during school off timing would be manned properly and any traffic violator would be dealt with severely adding nobody whosoever he is will be spared if any breach takes place.
He said that the department was there to implement rules and no leniency would be shown towards anybody.
He also contradicted the statements of the junior officers that lack of man power was responsible for the mess adding rules will be implemented in letter and spirit.
The SSP however advised the parents to counsel their wards about traffic hazards due to over speeding and also assured that people would get safe and secure roads adding the department has already initiated drives to challan the bikers and drivers who over speed or don’t have relevant documents.
Meanwhile some observers feel that mere challans won’t solve the mess on the roads adding some innovative ideas need to be adopted instead of only generating revenue through challans.
It is hoped that normalcy would be restored to city roads and common citizens, senior citizens and others who use the roads feel safe and secure while leaving their homes.
